After many years of hard work, it’s fantastic to see the comedy-drama Gridiron UK (filmed entirely in Crewe) enjoying a big-screen premiere at the wonderful Lyceum Theatre.

The movie has also debuted in America, and will be released on DVD and Video On Demand services across the world.

Bumblebee Digital is delighted to have supported the film’s UK launch with print services, producing a colour programme detailing the fabulous cast and crew.

And there’s more; Jules, one of Bumblebee’s copywriters, was the film’s location manager across six hectic weeks of filming that took place in the summer of 2012.

Queens Park, the Bentley Motors factory (formerly Rolls-Royce), the Crosville Club, George V playing fields, several well-known Crewe streets, and the Raven public house all feature in the film.

Producing the movie has not been easy, with a number of false starts across the years as funding, cast and technical issues hampered progress.

So it’s testament to writer/director Gary Delaney’s determination that the story of the Crewe Railroader’s American Football team has been told.

The sport is actually the vehicle that carries the excellent and very funny narrative. Derek, the lead character, is desperate to be successful at something. He sees creating a new team as his big chance.

As you can imagine, anything that can go wrong does go wrong. It’s a real battle against the odds, and the film charts his efforts to win over his many doubters. But will he succeed?

Make sure you support one of the British film industry’s most dedicated characters and buy Gridiron UK in the shops or online. We wish the production team every success in their future ventures.

Gridiron UK 2, anyone?
